Dear Dr Mohapatra
I received a copy of your email sent to Dr S. Banerjee,
Director, BARC regarding information on Chemical Effect
of Sound.
Dr Banerjee has asked me to communicate to you
directly and comment on your idea.

The effect of sound on chemical reactions is in fact well
known and this field is known as sonochemistry. Most of
these studies however use ultrasound (frequency higher than
the audible range) and the mechanism is that due to ultrafast
vibrations, the chemical substance gets locally heated up
making the reactions possible.
The idea that you have proposed is interesting no doubt.
However, it involves audible sound and hence the effect
on chemical reactions may be less dramatic. Nevertheless
it will be interesting to see the effect particularly on biological
processes which is your main concern.
I will be happy to have further communication with you
on this issue.
Please feel free to write to me.
please let me know if the mail reaches you and also any specific
details you would like to know.
With best regards

Swapan K Ghosh
