Title: Probing the Universe With Absorption Lines
Speaker: Prof. Raghunathan Srianand, IUCAA , Pune
Venue: NISER-Bhubaneswar, Jatni- LH-5
Date: 2016-Nov-02 10:30:00
Abstract: Absorption lines seen in the spectra of high-z QSOs allow one to probe
the cosmology, galaxy formation and its evolution. In particular absorption
lines can be used to study the evolution of different forms of matter, chemical
enrichment and ionizing radiation as a function of cosmic time. In addition one will
be able to place stringent constraints on the variations of fundamental
constants. In this talk the speaker will review the present status of
the field and summarize future programmes.
